We are honored to be a part of The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. We have registered 1000 children in Surprise, El Mirage and surrounding areas. We are looking to expand the program this year as we honor the memory and spirit of Dolly Parton.

If each Rotarian would fund 10 children for a year ($320) that would go a long way to helping us meet this financial challenge and enable additional enrollments. Several of our Rotarians have contributed and met this challenge, how about you!

Rotarian Melanie Yager is the program lead and can answer any questions you may have regarding the program or how to donate..

Meals of Hope

We have the upcoming Surprise & Sun City West effort for Meals of Hope on September 19 at the Ottawa University Faith Arena Lobby. This is our second MOH event following the successful initial event in 2025.

Rotarian and president-nominee Debbie Sullivan runs the organization in the West Valley and has also had successful meal packing events in other parts of the country. We have funding for 30,000 meals to distribute equally to Valley View Community Food Bank and St. Mary's Food Bank. Jim Schlenvogt is the project lead and can answer questions on donating and volunteering for the event.

Here are some pictures from the 2025 event. We hope to make this an annual event and look forward to making it even bigger.

Other Q1 Events

The first quarter is a busy month for other projects and service opportunities. We hosted the Sounds of Autism team Building event with the necessities packing event at the Colonnade on August 11.

Our speaker for the August 25 meeting was Rotarian Grace Agaba who spoke about her work in Uganda for an education project.

We welcomed Caren Marshall as a PHF award recipient

As we start the new year on July 1 we have still have some open positions that need to be filled if we are to proceed with service and fundraising plans. These positions are :

Golf committee members for managing volunteers and day of event help
Fundraising chair (new) to explore new opportunities
Social activity chair to identify and plan club socials
