Surprise Rotary members assist the Interact students by making dog toys from recycled T-shirts!  We spent four hours--with a break for lunch--cutting up T-shirts and making K9 toys.  We followed the pattern demonstrated by Rotary member, teacher, and Youth Service Coordinator, Jeri Robertson.  The next step was to take the material and wrap it around a tennis ball.  Then working in groups of two, they braided long, thin strips of fabric and tied them off at the ends.  The last step went to Rotary Club member Phil Souza who cut off the ends, checked for overall quality, and gathered the finished products.

These Interact students, from the Arizona Charter Academy, will be selling the toys next weekend at their school's carnival.  Everyone worked hard and created about 200 toys for K9s . . . and had fun doing it!
